Knickpoint - In this small channel, water flows from the left to the right.  The small break in slope to the right of the hammer is termed a knickpoint.  This miniature dry waterfall is like Yellowstone River seen here:

Sure, the scales are vastly different.  However, these breaks in slope occur in almost all streams.
